The incident happened as the players walked through the prestigious long room after Jonny Bairstow's controversial dismissal on the fifth day at Lord's. In footage that went viral on social media, Khawaja and David Warner could be seen engaging in a heated exchange with MCC members during lunch, prompting the stewards to intervene.

According to media reports, the Marylebone Cricket Club has taken strict action in response to this unfortunate incident and has suspended three members pending an investigation.
The incident occurred after Bairstow was dismissed when Alex Carey ran him out. This decision was protested by the crowd which continued throughout the match. Speaking on the matter, an MCC spokesperson said the behavior of a few members was "completely unacceptable" and against the values of the club.

Usman Khawaja expressed dismay at the unethical behavior, saying that Lord's is one of his favorite venues and he expects better from the members. "There is always respect at Lord's, especially in the Members' Pavilion in the Long Room, but there was none today. It was very disappointing," he said.
